72  (1 in color, 25 colored by hand)  illustrations  on  40  plates

and 12 text illustrations. Fresh natural cloth with title on spine & orig. wrappers bound with. Two edges uncut.

No. 30 of the Édition de Luxe on light laid paper with armorial watermark of 1755. – Pages III-VI as mistakenly not bound with loose double leaf, pp. 15/16 bound wrongly. Plates 7 & 8 erroneously bound wrongly, 21-24 close to the text. – Title & orig. wrappers somewhat foxing.

“ Since the sale of the Weigel collection in 1872 there should not have been any collection up for sale that in it’s richness of first works of the graphic arts could be measured even approximately with the one here (by the author of the ‘Manuel de la Gravure sur Bois et sur Métal au XVe Siècle’, Berlin 1855 – Potsdam 1932).”
